My journey as an artist began in 1985, coinciding with establishing a breeding and showing programme for Larktower English setters. Having moved to a small farm in Evesham Worcestershire in 1987 (looking after goats, my show dogs, ducks, chickens and rare breeds) my love of nature grew even more. I spent many hours researching the true reality of the animals I drew, from their habitats, genetics and the impact their environment can have. In turn, this led to a passion and interest in conservation and my involvement in conservation projects including :-
As a keen photographer and nature lover, I decided to pursue a different path and work within the art field full-time, so I left a successful career as a design engineer in 1994. I then worked towards opening my art studio and gallery in Stoke Prior, Bromsgrove in 2005. Subsequently nature in art was born. Decisions I have never regretted. Opening the studio has not only provided an outlet for my creativity, but as a mentor it has enabled me to mentor and guide many budding and experienced artists to create amazing pieces of their own art, alongside sharing my love of the world and all the creatures that abide there. My sister website Nature Through Art was created in 2011 and provides additional information about my other work around conservation |
